Nineteen of the Russian's twenty-one victories have been achieved on hard surfaces

A resurgent Medvedev claimed his maiden title for nearly 30 months with a win over Corentin Moutet in the tournament final.

The athlete, a former top-ranked player, has experienced a difficult year, winning just a single victory at the big events and experiencing a setback at the US Open.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serving in especial - led to him dropping out of the elite rankings and ultimately parting ways with long-time coach Gilles Cervara.

Now training with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has gradually improved in the past month - climaxing in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over opponent Moutet.

It is Medvedev's first championship after the Italian tournament and maiden on a hardcourt since that period of 2023.

Victory also means the Russian has won 21 championships at twenty-one various events.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a event with my both daughters at once, so to win a championship is really nice," said world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in honour of my younger daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I got when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had lost his last six title deciders, featuring in the German tournament previously this season.

The player's counter-punching strategy and recurring reactions on the tennis court had led some to doubt if his ability to compete at the highest level was over.

But the player has made changes in the past month, striving to come to the net and perform positively, backed up by an enhanced serve.

Medvedev recovered from a disadvantage in the initial set against the challenging Moutet, securing four of the final five exchanges to gain the advantage.

The competitors swapped breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, attempting for his initial professional championship, took control to force a final set.

The opponent rescued four early-game break points in a tight final set before the champion broke to 15 to close out the victory.

Appropriately, he clinched the win with a rally at the front of the court, with his opponent incapable to control a volley after over two and a half hours.
